Welcome back to another exciting update on our journey with the fairy tale English cottage makeover! It has been quite a rollercoaster ride, filled with hiccups after hiccups. But fear not, as things are finally starting to turn around and transform into the dream we envisioned. This week, we have focused on furnishing the cottage and giving it that magical touch it deserves.

Let's start by reminiscing about sanding the floors in the dining room. Ah yes, those good old memories! Now, Nestor and I have taken up the task of painting them to perfection. Our resident interior designer extraordinaire, Malcolm, has also worked his magic by finding some incredible bargains for us. And let's not forget about those two adorable console tables we've added on either side of the room.

However, time is ticking away as we only have 48 hours to get everything ready before bookings start pouring in for holiday rentals. So without further ado, let's get cracking!

Hello there! I'm back at our once nightmare-fueled fairy tale English cottage; but guess what? It is now turning into an actual dream come true! Can you believe it has almost been a year since this project began? We've faced numerous challenges along the way but hey - that's life! Today I find myself clad in my trusty red boiler suit as I work on some final touch-ups inside.

Within these next 48 hours lies our mission: furnish this enchanting cottage so it can welcome guests for unforgettable holidays or vacations. The pressure is mounting, but fear not – together with Nestor and Malcolm’s help – we will make it happen!

As I continue working diligently on paint touch-ups and cleaning tasks while wearing my signature red boiler suit (did someone say fashion?), Malcolm joins me to dress up each room. The Journey Continues: Dining Room Makeover

Today, we'll be focusing on one specific space in our beloved cottage – the dining room! This room holds a special place in our hearts, as it marks a significant milestone in our renovation process. From its initial state to where it stands now, let me take you through every step of this remarkable transformation.

• Color Scheme and Curtains

To create that cozy country feel reminiscent of its origins as a gamekeeper's cottage (hence why we call it Keepers Cottage), we opted for lovely green hues from Mylands London paint collection. The colors "Myrtle Green" and "Serpentine" have beautifully adorned the walls in perfect harmony with nature.

Adding curtains made from high-quality wool fabric not only enhances insulation but also adds texture and warmth to the space. We've carefully dressed them using pinch pleats tied with plastic temporarily until they settle into their natural shape - genius tip courtesy of Malcolm!

• Furniture Finds

As part of our upcycling endeavors, we discovered marvelous Rush seat leatherback chairs at an antique market. These gems perfectly complemented our country theme while providing comfort during those delightful meals shared by guests.

And speaking of treasures found along the way, behold these magnificent marble lampshades sourced from Pooky! Nestled atop repurposed bases painted in another beautiful Mylands color called "Messel," they effortlessly add elegance to the overall design.

We couldn't resist incorporating nautical elements inspired by being close to the coast; hence these charming cycling finds – two maritime-themed tables placed on either side await embellishment with fresh flowers and flickering candles once guests arrive.

• Artistic Touches

Our journey took us to an antique market where we stumbled upon remarkable prints that perfectly embody the essence of gamekeeping. We selected pieces showcasing snipe shooting, Partridge shooting, and wild duck shooting – a nod to the cottage's history!

Completing this picturesque room is a mirror sourced from yet another antique shop. Its vintage charm gracefully reflects the beauty surrounding it.

• Floor That Wows

Now, let's talk about our bold decision to paint the floors black! Initially met with skepticism, this choice has proven itself worthy by concealing any imperfections while adding depth and character to space. Topped with a lovely jute rug that seamlessly complements our country aesthetic, these floors have become true showstoppers.

Phew! What an incredible journey it has been so far. The dining room in Keepers Cottage now stands as a testament to our dedication and creativity throughout this makeover process. But wait - there's more!
